TDS® X-Ray Dry Sorters

TDS, a new generation of cost-effective X-ray sensor-based dry sorter that is disrupting the market, has become a game-changer technology revolutionizing the mineral processing industry. There have been over 100 installations just within 3 years since product launch in a wide range of applications from processing all types of coals to non-coal materials, from surface mines to underground mines, from stationary plants to mobile systems.

Working principles:

Feed materials, either ROM coal or ore particles, are fed onto a moving conveyor belt by the vibrating distributor. A dual X-ray source and a CCD camera (optional) mounted above the belt scans every particle on the belt. Meanwhile, the on-device computer identifies particles and calculates the trajectory of the target particles. Once the target particles fall off the belt, a computer-controlled air jet would action to shoot the target particles thus making separation happen. All these actions happen within a very short period of time as the belt typically travels at 2.5 to 3 m/s and the computer-controlled solenoids can open and close within milliseconds. A dust collector is equipped to capture the fugitive dust generated during the separation process.
