First TDS Dry Phosphate Sorting Plant Commissioned

Sydney, Australia -11 January, 2021- A dry phosphate sorting plant using the TDS X-ray sorter has been successfully commissioned at Baoshishan Mining in Yichang, China, marking the first commercial installation of the TDS X-ray sorter in the phosphate industry. The P2O5 content of the TDS plant feed is in the range of 12%-14% and the P2O5 content of the concentrate and tailings are 28% and less than 7%, respectively.

The TDS sorter is the latest generation of cost-effective X-ray sensor-based dry sorting technology that has a wide range of applications including ore sorting, coal preparation, industrial mineral separation, recycling, etc. As a completely dry process, the TDS sorter uses no water, making it inherently an environmentally friendly technology. The TDS sorter is also known as a “smart sorter” that integrates advanced sensors, computer algorithms and hardware. There have been over 150 TDS installations since the product debut in late 2015.
